What it's all about?

The Royal Yachting Association RYA has instigated a nationwide event to encourage people to have a go at sailing. At Helford River Sailing Club the week we have chosen for our PTBO is Saturday 26th May through to Friday 1st June.

What's on offer

Saturday 26th May 12.30pm till 6.30pm is the day we are offering you the chance to experience sailing; the club has seven Wayfarer dinghies, these are sixteen ft long and offer a very stable comfortable sailing experience with a crew capacity of four, an ideal dinghy for the family. Buoyancy aids / life jackets provided.

If you wish a bit more of a racing encounter we have a choice of RS Visions 3-4 person, RS Fevas 2-3 person, topper single or two children and the basic but super junior training dinghy the Optimist. If you wish to sail any of these please bring your own wet suits, Buoyancy aids will be provided. There will be an opportunity to sail in a keel boat /yacht for a short trip around the river, an experience not to be missed.

We also have a restaurant with views only dreamed of; enjoy a meal, a drink from the bar or sit and have a coffee while watching the boats go by.

When should I come?

All of this will be there for you on Saturday May 26th, but if you are unable to make this day the club will be open to non members through to Fridays 1st June.

Other activities:

• Tuesday 29th is the regular Wayfarer evening we will be happy to take you out on this evening.
• Wednesday 30th is the weekly Keel boat / yacht race evening, although limited to capacity we would do our best to accommodate you on one of these boats.
• If you're competitive why not join or dinghy racers on Thursday evening, we have some double handed dinghies and we would be pleased to take you out for an hours racing, again limited numbers.

Also note…

All of the above is subject to weather conditions.

Our qualified instructors will be there to talk you through the essentials of sailing and join you in the dinghies.

Under 18s will require parental consent.
